Hair Delimma

So for the past two years I have been in a battle of trying to revive my hair. I had dyed my hair a maroon color just to get a change. I wanted something fresh and new.I’m allowed to have that…right? Before then my hair was healthy long and full. Looking back I have to admit that I was taking my Master’s classes so I was under a lot of stress. Once I got the color I decided to take a step further and cut my hair to shoulder length. THE. BIGGEST. MISTAKE. EVER. My hair was never the same. 😦 It started falling out and my hair was thinning. The whole turned into a hot mess of me trying to get a handle of my color and what was going on with my hair. On top of that my hair is relaxed but I had stopped the relaxers for awhile.

So now here I am still trying to retain length. My hair is past my shoulders now and it is thick. The dilemma is now trying to keep the moisture in my hair and trying to be kind to it. With the color fading to my hair it is now towards my ends and it is becoming difficult to keep my ends moisturized. So I thought I should step up my routine to add more moisture to my hair.

So my first mistake was using Pantene Sleek and Smooth. Pantene has always worked on my hair and now that their formula has Argan Oil in it I thought it was a sure thing. BOY was I wrong because that didn’t work either.

My next mistake was using Shea Moisture: Jamaican Black Castor Oil. The product had gotten such rave reviews that I wanted to give it a try and it was a fail for me once again. My hair was manageable but my scalp was very itchy even after I washed it.

So what I’m using now and what I used yesterday is Mizani Thermosmooth. So far so good. My hair isn’t tangled up. My scalp doesn’t itch.

I’m praying and hoping that my hair doesn’t fall out but all of this happened in the span of a whole month so I’m bound to have some breakage since my hair has been striped of it’s naturals oils. So I will be wearing it in protective styles until my next wash so I can give my hair a break.

Learn from me don’t get color in your hair. Keep your precious strands.

Peace
